About us.

Myrrdah is an ethical, Australian-made label. We are four sisters and descendants of the Kalkatungu tribe with ties to the sandover river in the Northern Territory where our great-great grandmother was born. We have created pieces that are influenced by both sides of our aboriginal heritage and inspired by the land around us. When you purchase from Myrrdah you are supporting an 100% Aboriginal Australian made product and family business.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Our collections.

Myrrdah is an ethical, 100% Australian-made and Aboriginal owned label inspired by our homelands.

  • Natural fibres such as linen have been chosen for the collection. This was especially important to us because of durability and comfort they provide in throughout out our outback seasons. Our clothing is ethically produced in Melbourne with all ownership, manufacture and materials being sourced sustainably within Australia.

Our line was always going to be linen/blends and cotton - growing up our mum was and still is a huge fan on natural fibres and this has now become our love as well.

  • Creating this label included many nights sitting around, dreaming and discussing dresses that we could share and feel good in, and that we could all wear at the same time throughout all stages of life (some of us being pregnant, breastfeeding, post birth, some of us at our skinniest some of us at our biggest)

Coming from such a close family and mum having 5 girls in 6 years we always shared clothes but added our own style to them, but all liked the same core clothing pieces/styles.

A clothing line that embodied everything we dreamed of has always been in the back of our minds and having moved about in life and starting to paint it was just a natural progression to put our art in print on linen to create this beautiful collection.

  • Our inspiration for the label was to create pieces that showcased our culture - we wanted to bring aboriginal art and fashion together. We also wanted to create pieces that would suit any shape and sizes as there are 6 girls in our family that are all different. We all love the same style. Like most women we wanted to feel beautiful but what was equally important was feeling comfortable because as mothers ourselves we understand that children keep you on your toes and your clothes need to allow you to move just as fast as they do sometimes! These pieces are timeless keepsakes that can be worn by everybody throughout all stages of life.
